Resolution No. 19-03RESOLUTION NO. 19-03 A RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING BRIAN TEEPLE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NORTHEAST FLORIDA REGIONAL COUNCIL, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Brian Teeple earned his bachelor's degree in environmental resource management at Penn State University, his master's degree in urban and regional planning from Florida State University, and did further studies in environmental engineering at the George Washington University; and WHEREAS, Mr. Teeple began his professional career as an environmental engineer for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, then was a community program administrator for the Florida Department of Community Affairs for three years before being appointed as Executive Director of the Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) in 1986; and WHEREAS, Mr. Teeple has served outstandingly as the head of the NEFRC, the regional planning agency covering a seven -county region including Duval County, which provides technical assistance and multi - jurisdictional planning in the areas of emergency preparedness and evacuations, coordination of growth management and community planning, regional data collection and analysis, and regional visioning and strategic planning, among other services; and WHEREAS, throughout his 33 years of service to the Regional Council, Mr. Teeple has continually modeled the values of cooperation, coordination, mutual assistance and shared regional vision, and has worked with local governments and especially their elected officials who comprise the NEFRC board to achieve a more prosperous, well-planned, safe, environmentally and economically sound region; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Atlantic Beach City Commission: Section 1. The City of Atlantic Beach hereby honors and commends Northeast Florida Regional Council Executive Director Brian Teeple on his retirement, and wishes him the very best of health and happiness in the years ahead. His service to the City of Atlantic Beach and Northeast Florida for more than three decades is gratefully acknowledged and will be long be appreciated by all who had the pleasure to know him and his work. Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
