BACKGROUND: The City's Sewer Master Flan identified needed modifications at the West
End Lift Station in order to meet regulatory requirements. The City Commission authorized one
of our continuing contract engineering fu~ms, Waitz &Moye, Inc. to design the project. The
modifications include reconfiguration of the lift station wetwell to allow room for two pumps,
replacement of the pumps and discharge piping, and upgrade of the electrical controls.
A Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting was held on February 13, 2002, and three bids were received on
February 27, 2002. The bids were as follows:

Bid Price $37,028.00 $37,900.00 $44,819.88
The bids were reviewed by Waitz &Moye, Inc. who recommended. awazding the bid to the low
bidder meeting all requirements, Gruhn May, Inc., in the amount of $37,028.
BUDGET: A total of $90,000 was budgeted for construction of this project in the Sewer
Treatment Account No. 410-5508-535-6300,
RECOMMENDATION: Awazd the contract for West End Pump Station Modifications and
Improvements to Gruhn May, Inc. in the amount of $37,028.

Please be advised that Waitz &Moye, Inc. has reviewed the results of Bid No. 0102-3 in which there
were three bidders: Grun May, Meadors and Miranda. The low bidder was Gran May.. We have
reviewed and analyzed the above bid submissions and recommend that the contract be awazded to the
low bidder, Grun May, for a lump sum price of $37,028.68.
