Exh 4CAGENDA ITEM 4C MARCH 11, 2002 CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSIONER MEETING STAFF REPORT ACTION REQUESTED: Award contract for temporary employment services to Labor Line. SUBMITTED BY: Donna L. Bussey, Human Resource Assistant DATE: March 4, 2002 BACKGROUND: There is often a need for a temporary employee to fill in for employees that maybe out due to medical reasons, to fill in for a vacant position while it is being filled, or to perform special projects. In most cases, a temporary is utilized for only a week or two. However, a temporary being utilized while a vacant position is being filled may be utilized for a longer period of time. Bid No. 0102-11 for temporary employment services was advertised and on Februazy 6, 2002 opened. Seven (7) temporary agencies responded to the bid. The bidders were required to provide hourly bill rates for four most commonly used categories of services. Using the "weighted" total cost figure, Labor Line was the lowest bidder. BUDGET: Prior to utilizing a temporary employee, the Department Head must submit a written request. The Finance Director verifies funding is available and the City Manager approves or disapproves the request. RECOMMENDATION: Recommend that the City Commission awazd a one (1) year contract to Labor Line. / CITY MANAGER:
