PRIVATELY OWNED AND MAINTAINED FIRE HYDRANTS SHALL BE PAINTED RED. 5. FIRE HYDRANTS SHALL BE ORDERED WITH PROPER "BURY DEPTH" TO MEET ACTUAL FIELD CONDITIONS. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR BRANCH LINES WHICH TEE -OFF A 12" OR LARGER WATER MAIN. UNLESS APPROVED OTHERWISE BY JEA, THE INSTALLATION OF (45°) BENDS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE WHEN UTILIZED TO CORRECT AN IMPROPERLY FURNISHED HYDRANT. THE USE OF HYDRANT EXTENSIONS SHOULD BE MINIMIZED. 6. BLUE REFLECTIVE MARKERS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE REFLECTIVE FACE OF THE MARKER IS PERPENDICULAR TO A LINE PARALLEL TO THE ROADWAY CENTERLINE.
