the work.
7. Step footings below all sanitary and water lines.
CONCRETE:
1. Concrete has been designed in accordance with ACI 318-02, "Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete, and
shall be constructed in accordance with ACI 301, " Specifications for Structural Concrete.
2. All concrete shall have the following minimum compressive strength at 28 days in accordance with
ASTM C 172, C31 and C39:
Footings, slabs on grade and misc. concrete: fc = 3000 psi
Cast -in-place beams, columns and elevated slabs: fc = 3000 psi
3. Cement shall conform to "Specifications for Portland Cement" (ASTM C150).
4. Aggregate shall conform to "Specification for Concrete Aggregate" (ASTM).
5. Water shall be clean and free of substances deleterious to concrete or steel reinforcement.
6. Construction within 1500 ft if the Coastal Control Line additional requirements:
Gast -in-place beams, columns and elevated slabs: fc = 5000 psi
Maximum water -cement ratio: 0.40
Maximum chloride ion content: 0.15 percent by weight of cement in accordance with ASTM C 1218.
7. Reinforcing steel shall be ASTM A615 Grade 40 unless otherwise noted on the drawings. All reinforcing details shall
conform to "Details and Detailing of Concrete Reinforcement" ACI 117.
8. Tolerances for foundation and slab alignment as well as placement of reinforcement shall be in accordance with ACI 117,
"standard Tolerances for Concrete Construction and Materials"
9. All concrete slabs on grade shall be the thickness indicated on the drawings over min. 6 mil. PVC vapor barrier. Slabs
shall be reinforced with fibermesh reinforcement with a minimum 2" fiber length at 1lb/cy complying with ASTM C1116,
10. Slabs on grade shall bear on structural fill which shall be clean sand free of debris and the deleterious material. Structural
fill shall be compacted to a density of a min. 95% of the Modified Proctor Maximum Dry Density (ASTM D1557). Fill shall
be treated with termite poison before vapor barrier is placed.
11. Footings may bear on undisturbed soil or structural. Structural fill shall be compacted to a density of a min. 95% of the
Modified Proctor Maximum Dry Density (ASTM D 1557) for a depth of a min. two feet below the bottom of the footing.
12. The following minimum concrete cover shall be provided for reinforcement:
3" - Concrete placed against and permanently exposed to earth
2" - Concrete exposed to earth or weather, #6 bar or larger
1 I/2" - Concrete exposed to earth or weather, #5 bar or smaller
1 1/2" - Concrete not exposed to earth or weather for the primary reinforcement, ties, stirrups in beams and columns.
13. All continuous reinforcing steel in concrete shall be lap -spliced with the following minimum lengths:
#4 bars - 21" min.
#5 bars - 26" min.
#6 bars - 32" rein.
#7 bars - 46" min.
14. Reinforcing in footings shall be bent around comers or corner bars shall be installed.
15. The Contractor shall provide accessories necessary to support and restrain reinforcing steel during concrete placement.
Accessories which bear on exposed concrete surfaces shall be plastic tipped of stainless steel.
WOOD:
1. All wood framing has been designed in accordance with "National Design Specifications (NDS) for Wood Construction",
2001 Edition.
2. All wood members in contact with masonry, concrete soil, or exposed to weather shall be treated with an appropriate
preservative suitable to the exposure conditions.
3. When ACQ treatment is used on any wood member, all nailing shall be hot -dipped galvanized meeting ASTM A153,
Class C, or ASTM B695, Class 50. When borate treated is used, galvanizing shall not be required.
4. Prefabricated wood trusses shall comply with "National Design Specifications (NDS) for Wood Construction", 2001 Edition
and "Design Specifications for Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses (ANSI/TPI 1).
5. All trusses shall be designed by the truss manufacturer's registered Engineer.
6. The truss manufacturer shall submit shop drawings and design notes with the signature and seal of a Florida Registered
Engineer for approval. Design notes shall include the rated load capacity of the truss to truss connectors, the reactions
at all bearing points and the manufacturer's license to fabricate trusses using the connector system proposed. The
