It is the intent of the Professional of Record that this work be performed in conformance with the requirements of the authorities having jurisdiction over this type of Construction and Occupancy at this location. 2. The Contractor shall be responsible for the means and methods of construction and shall work in conformance with all applicable codes and regulations. 3. CONCRETE: 1. Concrete has been designed in accordance with ACI 318-02, "Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete, and shall be constructed in accordance with ACI 301, " Specifications for Structural Concrete. 2. All concrete shall have the following minimum compressive strength at 28 days in accordance with ASTM C 172, C31 and C39: Footings, slabs on grade and misc. concrete: fc = 3000 psi Cast -in-place beams, columns and elevated slabs: fc = 3000 psi 3. Cement shall conform to "Specifications for Portland Cement" (ASTM C150). 4. Aggregate shall conform to "Specification for Concrete Aggregate" (ASTM). 5. Water shall be clean and free of substances deleterious to concrete or steel reinforcement. 6. Construction within 1500 ft if the Coastal Control Line additional requirements: Gast -in-place beams, columns and elevated slabs: fc = 5000 psi Maximum water -cement ratio: 0.40 Maximum chloride ion content: 0.15 percent by weight of cement in accordance with ASTM C 1218. 7. Reinforcing steel shall be ASTM A615 Grade 40 unless otherwise noted on the drawings. All reinforcing details shall conform to "Details and Detailing of Concrete Reinforcement" ACI 117. 8. Tolerances for foundation and slab alignment as well as placement of reinforcement shall be in accordance with ACI 117, "standard Tolerances for Concrete Construction and Materials" 9. All concrete slabs on grade shall be the thickness indicated on the drawings over min. 6 mil. PVC vapor barrier. Slabs shall be reinforced with fibermesh reinforcement with a minimum 2" fiber length at 1lb/cy complying with ASTM C1116, 10. Slabs on grade shall bear on structural fill which shall be clean sand free of debris and the deleterious material. Structural fill shall be compacted to a density of a min. 95% of the Modified Proctor Maximum Dry Density (ASTM D1557). Fill shall be treated with termite poison before vapor barrier is placed. 11. Footings may bear on undisturbed soil or structural. Structural fill shall be compacted to a density of a min. 95% of the Modified Proctor Maximum Dry Density (ASTM D 1557) for a depth of a min. two feet below the bottom of the footing. 12. The following minimum concrete cover shall be provided for reinforcement: 3" - Concrete placed against and permanently exposed to earth 2" - Concrete exposed to earth or weather, #6 bar or larger 1 I/2" - Concrete exposed to earth or weather, #5 bar or smaller 1 1/2" - Concrete not exposed to earth or weather for the primary reinforcement, ties, stirrups in beams and columns. 13. All continuous reinforcing steel in concrete shall be lap -spliced with the following minimum lengths: #4 bars - 21" min. #5 bars - 26" min. #6 bars - 32" rein. #7 bars - 46" min. 14. Reinforcing in footings shall be bent around comers or corner bars shall be installed. 15. The Contractor shall provide accessories necessary to support and restrain reinforcing steel during concrete placement. Accessories which bear on exposed concrete surfaces shall be plastic tipped of stainless steel. WOOD: 1. All wood framing has been designed in accordance with "National Design Specifications (NDS) for Wood Construction", 2001 Edition. 2. All wood members in contact with masonry, concrete soil, or exposed to weather shall be treated with an appropriate preservative suitable to the exposure conditions. 3. When ACQ treatment is used on any wood member, all nailing shall be hot -dipped galvanized meeting ASTM A153, Class C, or ASTM B695, Class 50. When borate treated is used, galvanizing shall not be required. 4. Prefabricated wood trusses shall comply with "National Design Specifications (NDS) for Wood Construction", 2001 Edition and "Design Specifications for Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses (ANSI/TPI 1). 5. All trusses shall be designed by the truss manufacturer's registered Engineer. 6. The truss manufacturer shall submit shop drawings and design notes with the signature and seal of a Florida Registered Engineer for approval. Design notes shall include the rated load capacity of the truss to truss connectors, the reactions at all bearing points and the manufacturer's license to fabricate trusses using the connector system proposed. The Contractor shall review and approve shop drawings prior to submitting to the Design Professional. 7. Handling and erection, including temporary bracing during installation of trusses, shall comply with TPI HIB 91. 8. All gable end wails shall be balloon framed or braced in accordance with the details as shown on the drawings. 9. All framing anchors and connectors shall be manufactured by Simpson Strong -Tie or approved equal. 10. All anchor bolts and threaded rods shall be in accordance with ASTM A307, Grade A or ASTM F1554, Grade 36. 11. All metal connectors which are exposed to weather or in contact with masonry, concrete or ACQ pressure treatment shall be galvanized per ASTM A153, Class C, ASTM 8695, Class 50 or be stainless steel Type 316. All anchor bolts, threaded rods and associated hardware within 1500' of the Coastal Control Line shall be galvanized. 12. Anchor adhesives shall be Simpson Strong -Tie "SET' Epoxy.
