AGENDA ITEM: Extension of Annual Contract -Sewer Cleaning and Televising

BACKGROUND: On March 28, 2001, bids were opened for the Cityannual contract for Sewer Cleaning
and Televising. The low bidder was Metro-Rooter, lnc. They successfully met all bid requirements.
This work requires specialized skill, experience and equipment. Metro Rooter's personnel have the
required background, knowledge, experience and equipment. The fees charged by Industrial Equipment
Services for labor and materials have been very reasonable and competitive.
City has spoken to Metro Rooter, Inc. regarding an extension of their current contract for one }ear at the
current rates and theyhave agreed. As per Bid No. 0001-13: `°The City reserves the right to renew the
contract for two additional one-}ear periods pending a mutual agreement between the City and the vendor,
and a review of the contract performance by vendor for the previous yeaz."
The vendor has agreed to renew his contract, and staff has been pleased with the performance of this
contractor.
BUDGET: These services are used as scheduled and on an as-needed basis, and fundingis included in
the Sewer Collection Fund in the amount of approximately $20,000 under account numbers 410-5506-535-
3400 and 410-5506-535-6300.
RECOMMENDATION: Extend the annual contract for sewer cleaningand televising for one additional
year to Metro Rooter, Imo. at the current contract prices.
