Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Rate Adjustment

BACKGROUND: The contract that Atlantic Beach has with BFI provides for a
rate adjustment based on the Consumer Price Index at the
anniversary of the contract, which was 2/01/02. The purpose of
this adjustment is to adjust the rates consistent with their contract.
BUDGET: Funds are budgeted in Account #420-4201-534.34-O1. The rate
increase is included in the budgeted amount of $875,000 for fiscal
year 2001-2002. This increase amounts to approximately 12¢ per
residential customer per month, or approximately $566 per month
total for residential pickups.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend the approval of the attached adjustment to the rates
in the contract with BFI. The City Commission may wish to
consider passing the CPI rate increase on to the residents.
