Exh 6BAGENDA ITEM #6B APRII, 22, 2002 RESOLUTION N0.02-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE BEACHES AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO CREATE A MUSEUM AND TO PRESERVE HISTORIC STRUCTURES IN THE BEACHES AREA WHEREAS, the Beaches Area enjoys a rich and unique heritage which has been celebrated since 1978 by the Beaches Area Historical Society; and, WHEREAS, the Beaches Area Historical Society has filled its azchives with artifacts, documents, photographs and anecdotes from six communities that comprise the "Beaches:" Mayport, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Palm Valley, and Ponte Vedra Beach; and WHEREAS, the Beaches Area Historical Society seeks to nurture civic pride and affirm the value and chazacter of these communities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Atlantic Beach City Commission, as follows: SECTION L The City of Atlantic Beach supports the efforts of the Beaches Area Historical Society to identify, document, and preserve the historic structures that give the Beach communities their distinctive chazacter; and SECTION 2. The City of Atlantic Beach endorses the efforts of the Beaches Area Historical Society to create a museum that will provide education, information, and entertainment for those who live, work, and vacation in our communities. SECTION 3. In support of this Resolution, the Atlantic Beach City Comrission encourages its citizens to join the Boazd of Directors of the Beaches Area Historical Society to achieve those worthwhile objectives.
