Exh 8AATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSION MEETING STAFF REPORT AGENDA ITEM: SUBMITTED BY: DATEā€¢ AGENDA ITEM #8A MAY 28, 2002 Additional Sod on Sherry Drive Project Robert S. Kosoy, Director of Public Works ~ May 20, 2002 ..BACKGROUND: The contract quantity for sod on the Sherry Drive Project is 1,100 ..square yazds, at $3.50 per squaze yard. This quantity was intended to cover a small azea where the curbs and driveways would be installed. Due to the extensive amount of driveway replacement on both sides of Sherry Drive, and the installation of conduit on the east side of Sherry Drive by BellSouth, a faz greater amount of the grassed azeas was disturbed. The contract has'restored the azeas and it is estimated that 6,000 squaze yards of sod would finish the project in a more aesthetic manner. The estimated additional cost would be $17,200. We have received a letter from BellSouth that they would reimburse us for $3,366 of the cost, to be repaid to the City after we pay the contractor. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the additional sodding for an additional cost of $17,200, $3,600 to be repaid by BellSouth. BUDGET: The final estimate is expected to be approximately $35,000 under the total amount of $1,396,461.18, originally approved by the City Commission. Using $17,200 for sodding would reduce the projected amount to approximately $18,000 under budget. ATTACHMENTS: Letter dated May 16, 2002 from BellSouth.
