WHEREAS, all citizens are affected by our parks and participate in recreational
Programs; and
WHEREAS, the benefits provided by parks and recreation programs reduce
crime, enhance property values, increase communication and build self esteem;
and
WHEREAS, recreational activities build strong bodies, reduce health care costs,
make people happier and help residents live longer; and
WHEREAS, the productive use of leisure builds family unity, strengthens
neighborhood involvement, offers opportunity for, social interaction, creates a
more educated community, develops creativity and promotes sensitivity to
cultural diversity; and
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Florida recognizes the month of July as
Recreation and Parks Month;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John S. Meserve, Mayor of the City of Atlantic Beach, do
hereby proclaim the month of July as
RECREATION AND PARKS MONTH
in Atlantic Beach, and encourage our citizens to use the parks and participate in
.recreational programs and recognize the importance. of our park system as it
.adds to the quality of life for all atizens.
