Dear Sonya:
Thank you for the generous amount of time you have already dedicated to the North Beach Center.
I respectfully ask you to please allow the following to be an agenda item at the meeting of the City
Commissioners:
Architectural Design. nortion exceedine 35 ft
Sonya, the whole design of the shopping center would have to change if we eliminate the portion
which exceeds 35 ft. The center eyebrow, which is used as an overhead canopy, is visually
dependent architecturally on the portion which exceeds 35 ft in height.. On the attached rendering,
please cover the portion which exceeds 35 ft. and hopefully you will also see why. the height is
necessary, or else it becomes just another ordinary strip center.
A trusted real estate developer told me he did not think our redevelopment of the fdrmer Pic-N-
Save would lease, until he saw the rendering. He said it was beautiful and so did many residents in
this area. Not one person has said anything negative to us.
The architectural design is a logo, or statement about the project. The project is first class right
down to the $25,000. unified project sign. We will not turn the North Beach Center into
"TinselTown". We have hired an exterior design company to provide a look which will be brilliant
and vibrant. The owner of the design company understands'that North Beach Center needs to look
classy, above all, and will understate the colors to blend with the area.
At the last meeting, we' tried to compromise height in a sincere effort to obtain the very useful
Sailfish loading, however, we were unsuccessful:.
Please allow us to proceed with our original design plans. We need to move forward and we are
passionate about pursuing excellence. We have spent a significant amount of money and time on
an excellent daytime and evening design. '
