Re: Notification of parking violation -232 Seminole Road
Dear property owner:
A strategic priority of the City has been to enhance and improve the roadways and thoroughfares within
the City with the goal of encouraging redevelopment and reinvestment in older neighborhoods and
commercial areas. Commercial areas will only be as strong and vibrant as the neighborhoods that
support our community businesses. The condition and attractiveness of roadways is a critical component
to the perception of the quality of a community, which translates into strong and stable property values.
Curb appeal is judged beginning at the street edge.
While Seminole Road is not a major urban roadway like Atlantic Boulevard and Mayport Road, it is the
main roadway through the backbone of the community. Seminole Road is the gateway and the front door
to the heart of the City.
Seminole Road does not suffer from deterioration and blight, but there are too many locations that have a
tired and unkempt appearance mostly because of the way the street edges look. Continuous parking
along the right-of-way makes it impossible to maintain grass and landscaping, and the street edge stays a
sand, dirt and weed strewn mess that washes into the City's stormwater system during heavy rains.
Your property at 232 Seminole Road has been identified as one where the right-of-way is in a very
damaged condition because of routine daily and overnight parking. City Code contains the following
provision.
Sec. 24-161. Off-Street Parking and Loading.
(b)(3) Parking for residential uses shall be located within paved or stabilized driveways, private
garages or carports or such areas intended for the day-to-day parking of vehicles. Vehicles shall not be
routinely parked within grassed or landscaped areas of a residential Lot or on grassed or landscaped
portions of public right-of-ways adjacent to the Lot.
Based upon Homestead Exemption data, this property appears to be renter-occupied. It is your
responsibility to notify and prohibit your renters from using the right-of-way for parking and to require
that they park their vehicles in compliance with the above provision. Violations are subject to parking
citation. You may call me at 904-247-5826 with any questions.
Sincerely,
Jtqa
