Approval of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on November 13, 2001. 2. Recognition of Visitors and Guest regarding any matters not listed on the agenda. 3. Old Business: Code Enforcement Officer Alex Sherrer will present follow-up reports on the following properties: Case No. 075-01, Benjamin Brown, Jr., 457 Sailfish Drive (Lot 1, Block 27, Royal Palms Unit 2A). During the May 1, 2001 Code Enforcement Board Meeting, Mr. Brown was found to be in violation of Chapter 12-1 (b) (7) outside storage of miscellaneous materials and Chapter 24, Section 24-104 operation of a junkyard in a residential district of the City Code of Ordinances. The CEB voted to fine Mr. Brown $5,000.00 as a repeat violator of Chapter 12-1 (b) (7) and $2,500.00 as a repeat violator of Section 24-104. The CEB voted not to levy the fine at this time, but instructed Mr. Brown that if in the future, he was found to be in violation again of the above stated sections of the code, the $7,500.00 fine would be reinstated. The CEB also assessed Mr. Brown $815.50 in administrative expenses. On August 31, 2001 Mr. Brown paid $75.00 toward the administrative expenses. During the September 4, 2001 Code Enforcement Board Meeting, the CEB acknowledged receipt of payment of the $75.00 and granted Mr. Brown a ninety (90) day extension (December 4, 2001) to pay the remaining balance of $740.50 in administrative expenses. As of today, February 12, 2002, Mr. Brown has not paid the remaining balance of $740.50. Page —2 - Code Enforcement Board Agenda March 5, 2002 Case No. 342-01, James Baker, 598 Seaspray (Seaspray Lot 33, Block 4). During the September 4, 2001 Code Enforcement Board Meeting, Mr. Baker was found to be a repeat violator in violation of Chapter 12, Sections 12-1-2-3 and 7 of the Code and the CEB voted assess him a fine of $500.00 per day for ten days for each violation, for a total of $10,000.00 to deferred al but $250.00 of the fine, and gave him thirty (30) days to clean up the remainder of the trash on said property. If the property was not cleaned up to the satisfaction of the Code Enforcement Officer on the 31St day, the $9,750.00 fine was to be reinstated. The CEB also voted to find Mr. Baker in violation of Chapter 24, Sections 24-151(3)f and 24-65(c) of the Code, (2) and gave him thirty (30) days o remove two sheds of his choice from the property and ninety (90) days to properly permit the remaining shed. The CEB assessed Mr. Baker a fine of $125 per day for ten days for each violation, for a total of $2,500.00, if the two sheds were not removed in thirty days. The CEB also found Mr. Baker in violation of Chapter 21, Section 21- 24(b) of the Code, and voted not to assess a fine at that time because the inoperable vehicles had been removed from the property. The CEB voted to impose a fine as a repeat violator if the property was found to be in non-compliance again. The CEB also assessed Mr. Baker $692.41 in administrative expenses. On October 18, 2001, Mr. Baker paid $100.00 toward the fine and administrative expenses totaling $942.41. On December 6, 2001, Mr. Baker paid $300.00 toward the fine and administrative expenses totaling $842.41. On January 30, 2002, Mr. Baker paid all of the $542.41 for the fine and administrative expenses. 4.
