AGENDA ITEM: Purchase of Christmas Decorations

BACKGROUND: In recent months, the City Commission approved the purchase of
~'^ Christmas decorations to be placed on utility poles on the north side of
~ Atlantic Boulevard and on both sides of Mayport Road in Atlantic Beach.
Officials from Neptune Beach were involved in the discussions and agreed
~"""° to purchase similar ornaments for utility poles on the south side of Atlantic

Boulevard. A joint committee from the two cities reviewed the various
types of decorations and chose a combination of lighted Christmas trees
~"'" and wreaths. Both cities have worked together to fmd utility company
~- . restrictions, prepare specifications and get prices for these ornaments.
Only two manufactures have been found. that made similar decorations.

BUDGET: The budget established in the mid-year budget adjustments by the City for
this project is $20,000. This includes not only the purchase price for the
decorations, but also the estimated cost for installation, removal and
energy. The price for the decorations is under the original budget
W estimate.

~ RECOMMENDATION: .Approve the purchase of the Christmas ornaments from Wayne
Manufacturing for a total cost of $14,386.50.
