CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH
FLORIDA STATE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE
UNION NEGOTIATION MEETING
SEPTEMBER 18, 2007
The negotiation meeting was called to order at 2:05 P.M. Those in attendance were:
City: George Foster, Chief Negotiator (Human Resource Manager)
Mike Classey, Negotiator (Police Captain)
Union: Gary Evans, Staff Representative
David Cameron, Local FOP Chairman (Last day as FOP Chairman: 09/21/07)
Ed Peck, FOP Member (new FOP Chairman effective 09/22/07)
Dale Hatfield, FOP Member
The City and Union reviewed the current status of items. (see attached summary table)
2. The Union and City also discussed other items such as health insurance and why/how it had
been changed and the Union's concern that Officers this year were not receiving an adequate
pay adjustment due to the increase in their pension contribution rates. The Union also
expressed concern that Officers were not being provided with a pay or benefit package that
was comparable to that being provided by other municipalities and indicated that our senior
Officers were being provided with lower pay, not necessary starting pay, than Officers in
other municipalities. After a heated discussion concerning these issues to include employee
pay increases, the meeting was concluded. (see attached summary table)
The date and time for the next negotiation session was left open with the Union to contact
the City when they desired to meet.
4. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 2:35 P.M.
