UNION NEGOTIATION MEETING
AUGUST 2, 2007
The negotiation meeting was called to order at 5:15 PM. Those in attendance were:
City: Jim Hanson, City Manager
George Foster, Chief Negotiator
Union: Andy Bemis, Staff Representative
Becky Orders, Union Steward
City Manger Jim Hanson addressed the group and provided information on the upcoming
budget process and the impact that the State property tax reductions could have on the City
budget. After addressing the group and answering questions, he left the meeting at 5:45 pm.
2. The City provided the Union with their recommendation for contract changes with the
exception of pay adjustments that are delayed pending City Commission budget and/or Shade
meetings. (see attached summary)
The City discussed that any and all "cost" items could be considered by the City Commission
for change or reductions during the 2007-2008 budget process and briefly discussed some of
these issues such as: the changing of overtime from "hours paid" to "hours worked",
changing the leave sell back program, and changes to health insurance coverage and costs.
4. The City discussed the changing of when Christmas and Christmas Eve would be recognized
as Holidays if Christmas fell on a Sunday or Monday. There was no indications that the
current policy should be reviewed for change.
The union had no items that they presented to the City.
6. The next meeting date was established as August 29th at 5:00 PM in the City Commission
Chambers.
7. The meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
