March 14,2019 Mike Kleinschmidt Design Cooperative, LLC 1032 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, Fla. 32207 Re: Inspector Comments ABBO,Atlantic Beach, FL Job Number 18-10-0058 Dear Mike, During city inspection of the above referenced structure, the inspector requested the EOR visit the site and address several issues.Those issues are repeated in bold below with the response following.AGC performed the requested site visit on March 6 and followed up on requested work on March 13,2019. 1. Please provide a letter signedisealed/dated by EOR verifying site inspection and approving all to plates and continuous uplift at all truss bearing points. 2. Please verify masonry anchor bolts/huts/washerslcounterbore for uplift 3. Continuous upliRat steel angleltek screw/nail detail. On the first site visit,we viewed the top plates at the front wall, the steel beam between the dining room and kitchen, and the rear wall of the kitchen. It is worth noting now that all trusses were fastened with (2) H2.5A clips, which is significantly more than required for all trusses except the kitchen girders. Trusses B7, 88, B11, B12, 817 and B18 were the only trusses that required double clips. a. The front wall has the dining room trusses and the front porch framing attached to it. The parch framing is ledgered to the ends of the trusses. We verified the uplift force and applied it to the top plates, which am fastened down with '/1" anchor bolts, countersunk and using a 1-1/2' diameter washer. This washer was not sufficient.To remedy,AGC specified adding a 5/8'X8"wedge anchor with 2"washer at 32"o.c. I reviewed these anchors on March 13 and found them to be installed per instruction. b. The steel beam has the dining room trusses and kitchen trusses fastened to the tap plate. Verifying the uplifts and the installation of the top plate anchor bolts,with 1-1/2"washers, this plate is installed sufficiently. No further action is required. c. The rear wall has the kitchen trusses fastened to the top plate,which is fastened to the steel angle. The plans specified fastening the plate to the steel angle with 114" through bolts at 24" centers. During construction, a %° TEK screw and 1-1/2"was used instead to fasten the lower plate to the angle.The upper top plate is fastened to the lower plate with (2) rows of 10d nails at 16' o.c., per plan specifications. Due to the double Gipping of the trusses to the wall noted above, this system is sufficient. The trusses are more than sufhdently fastened to the top plate assembly, the top plate assembly is sufficiently fastened to the angle, and the angle is sufficiently fastened to the wall.
