174ORDINANCE I AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF LICENSE FEES AND FIXING THE AMOUNT OF SUCH 1ICENSE FEES TO BE PAID BY PERSONS, FIRMS CORPORATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS TO ENGAGE IN OR MANAGE ANY BUSINESS PROFESSION OR OCCUPATION IN THE TOWN OF ATLANTIC BEACHI FLORIDA: REGULATING THE OSSUANCE OF SUCH LICENSE: PROVIDING FOR THE REVOCATION OF LICENSES: PROVIDING FOR THE QUALIFICATION OF CERTAIN SKILLED CONTRACTORS: PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT HEREOF) FIXING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION HEi EOFs REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND FIXING THE DATE WHEN SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. The exemptions here granted shall be subject to all 10.00 of the limitations and conditions as provided for exemption of State and Page # 3 County license taxes in said statutes. y SECTION 2.' That no license shall be issued to any type of con- tractor unless; a) Electrical Contractors shall have duly quali- fied with the Cijty of Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, in accord- ance with all provisions of law of said Gity regulating the conduct of said business thereat; and b) Plumbing Contractors bhall have first passed a recognized standard examination and duly qualified as such in some Town or City in the State of Florida having a population of 2500 or more, and shall present to the building Inspector of the Town proof of such qualification and the said Building Inspector shall have approved the application for such a license; and c) General Building Contractors shall have actively engaged in such business for at least one year within five years from the date of application for license, either as a contractor, the man- agement of such a business or shall have otherwise satisfied the Building Inspector of his proficiency in such business and the Build- ing Inspector shall have approved his application; and d) All other types of contractors shall have fur- nished satisfactory evidence to the Building Inspector of their com- petency, re-iability and proficiency in his particular occupation and the said Building Inspector shall first approve an application for such license. SECTION ;. That venders of beer, wines and liquors shall pay to the Town that fee set and provided for by the laws of the State of Florida. SECTION 4. That issuance of a license by the Town Clerk shall in no wise relieve the holder thereof of responsibility for compliance with all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances heretofore passed or which may hereafter be passed by the Town Council of the said Town, regulat- ing the conduct of such business. SECTION 5. That the Town Council by a three-fourths vote of all members present, sitting in Regular Session, by hearing, after notifi- cation to the holder that such hearing will be held, may revoke the license of any person found guilty of fraud or conduct involving moral turpitude. SECTION 6. That the license year shall be from July 1st through June 30th. SECTION 7. That the Town Clerk, upon proper showing that the issu- ance of a 4icense for a full year would work a hardship in any instance during the period from July 1st to December 31st may issue a half - year's license and that persons applying for a license after December 31st may be issued a half -year's license. SECTION 8. That any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction, be fined not exceeding one Hundred dollars ($100.06) or imprisoned not more than ninety (90) days. SECTION 9. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and the same are hereby repealed and that this Ordinance shall become effective upon its passage.
