Summary of Donner Park activities:
• Homework Sessions began the first day of school at Donner Park
• Donner Park Community Center has started weekly Arts and Crafts classes. Volunteers
assist the children in making several school oriented projects concentrating on reading,
arithmetic and spelling.
• The 4-H club members assisted local Habitat owners in decorating their bathrooms.
• For the second year in a row, the Jacksonville Food Bank began serving snacks to all
children who participate in community center activities and events.
• Coordination of the Annual Fall Festival have begun
• Donner Park is currently working with local agencies in beginning eye screenings for
children in the community center area.
Summary of Jordan Park activities:,
• Jordan Park children began the after school tutoring and homework program.
• The children received tickets to a Jacksonville Jaguar pre-season game for participation in
the Beaches Habitat/City of Atlantic Beach Reading program. The children completed
approximately 50 books and book reports.
• Began preparations for Flag Football
Summary of Parks and Recreation Activities:
• Hired new Park Attendant and Beautification Division Chief
• Signed teams up for Soccer Field use.
• Attended Florida Recreation and Parks Association Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
• Mailed off grant materials to the Florida Inland Navigation District regarding design of
Fishing Pier and construction of Dutton Island for reimbursement.
• Awarded Bid to A 1 Dock Builders for construction of Dutton Island Fishing Pier.
• Ordered park necessities for Rose Park Soccer Field, Pocket Park and 5r" Street Walking
Track.
• Typed correspondence, answered phone, and all other parks and recreation related
activities.
