BACKGROUND: This project includes piping replacements and modifications at Wastewater
Treatment Plant #1, located at 1100 Sandpiper Lane. The work consists of replacing deteriorated
air lines, upgrading some of the on-site reuse piping, and extending an existing return sludge line.
Invitations were sent to numerous vendors, and five contractors submitted approved
prequalification packages. Only one contractor, W. W. Gay Mechanical Contractors, Inc.
attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting and submitted a bid.
The total base bid for the project was $84,500, plus a ten percent contingency of $8,450 for a
total of $92,950.
BUDGET: A total of $95,000 was budgeted for this project in the Sewer Treatment Fund
under account number 410-5508-535-6300.
RECOMMENDATION: Award the Piping Modifications at Wastewater Treatment Plant
No. I to W. W. Gay Mechanical Contractor, Inc. in the amount of $92,950.
