A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A
NEW SCHEDULE OF GARBAGE RATES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY'S
FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH ADVANCED DISPOSAL FOR SOLID WASTE,
YARD WASTE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL SERVICES;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS AND
PURCHASE ORDERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach's Franchise Agreement with Advanced Disposal for solid waste,
yard waste and recycling collection and disposal services allows for rate adjustments based on the U.S.
Department of Labor Consumer Price Index (CPI); and
WHEREAS, the CPI for the preceding 12 -month Franchise Agreement period increased 1.3698%, and
Advanced Disposal is requesting that City of Atlantic Beach garbage rates be increased, accordingly; and
WHEREAS, the new agreement period begins June 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, funds are available for this CPI -adjusted garbage rate increase in the City's Sanitation Fund.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby approves a new schedule of garbage rates in accordance with
the City's Franchise Agreement with Advanced Disposal for solid waste, yard waste and recycling collection and
disposal services.
SECTION 2. The new rates reflect a 1.3698% CPI increase and become effective June 1, 2019.
SECTION 3. The City Commission has appropriated funds from City's Sanitation Fund for this purpose.
SECTION 4. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute contracts and
purchase orders in accordance with and as necessary to effectuate the provisions of this Resolution.
SECTION 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
