CITY COMMISSION MEETING
STAFF REPORT ~ ~ .
AGENDA ITEM: ~ Annual Professional.Land Surveying ~.
SUBMITTED BY: Robert S. Kosoy, Director of Public Works .
~-
' DATE: ~ October .17, 2002
BACKGROUND: On October 23, 2000, we began an annual contract for Professional.'
Land Surveyor Services with Charles Bassett & Associates, Inc. in
.. order that the City could receive accurate and timely surveying for
. properties, utilities, easements, and other issues where professional ,
surveying would be required. Although the current contract has
• ~ another 1-year option, we felt that we could attract more interest ~~.
and possibly better service if we readvertised.
We received proposals from eight firms and the top three firms .
were:
1. L.D. Bradley Land Surveyors
2. Clary & Associates, Inc.
3. Arc Surveying and Mapping, Inc. ~ ~.
Proposals included hourly crew rates, although surveyors were not
. ranked on this information. The hourly crew rate for L.D.~Bradley
. Land Surveyors was $109.95, which compared favorably with all
other firms..
RECOMMENDATION: .Authorize City Manager to sign contract with L.D. Bradley Land
' Surveyors for one year with options to extend the contract for two
1-year periods. ~ '
BUDGET:. ~ Total budget is reflected in various professional services accounts
for Public Works, Public Utilities,.Communitybevelopment
(CDBG), Parks and Recreation, and as part of various projects for
. these same departments. Last year approximately $20,000 was -
spent in professional land surveying services. ~ -
