A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A NEW CATERPILLAR 42OF BACKHOE
LOADER FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is requesting to purchase a new Caterpillar 420F
Backhoe Loader; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department currently shares a backhoe with the Public
Utilities Department and is requesting one of their own; and
WHEREAS, having this equipment available to the Public Works Department at all times
will be invaluable for both scheduled and reactive/emergency maintenance activities; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used to clean and maintain ditches and swales, perform
routine and emergency repairs in the streets and right-of-ways, alleviate flooding, transport materials
(such as limerock, coquina, railroad ties, etc.), remove sand from beach accesses, unload trucks,
remove large debris through the City, including the beach, and many other tasks as needed; and
WHEREAS, Ring Power Corporation quoted aprice of $92,468.00 thru the Florida Sheriff s
Association Contract per quoted dated 4/25/2019; and
WHEREAS, adequate funding is available in the Stormwater Machinery & Equipment
account 470-0000-538-6400; and
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to approve a
Purchase Order in the amount of $92,468.00 to Ring Power Corporation for the purchase of a new
Caterpillar 42OF Backhoe Loader; and
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
