RESOLUTION NO. 01-4
A RESOLUTION HONORING DETECTIVE ROBERT E. JACKSON FOR HIS TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF
SERVICE AS AN OUTSTANDING POLICE OFFICER FOR THE CITY AND CITIZENS OF ATLANTIC
BEACH, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, Robert E. Jackson served the City of Atlantic Beach for twenty-five yeazs as a firefighter,
public safety officer, police officer. and Detective; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Jackson worked the majority of his career as a narcotics detective, seizing hundreds
of pounds of cocaine, marijuana, and other illegal drugs while working in that capacity; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Jackson received letters of commendation from the Federal Drug Enforcement
Administration, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and the Jacksonville $each Police Department for his
outstanding work on drug and narcotics cases including closing down a clandestine methamphetamine lab and
coordinating hundreds of investigations and arrests throughout Northeast Florida; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Jackson received a letter of commendation from the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office for
facilitating the arrest of a suspect in five (5) burglary and sexual battery cases, most of which occurred in
Jacksonville; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Jackson received a letter of commendation from the State Attorney's Office for his
role in the investigation and. prosecution a suspect in an armed robbery, armed kidnaping, and sexual battery case;
and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Jackson received a letter of commendation from the Florida Department of Law
Enforcement for his arrest of a suspect wanted for two (2) murders that occurred elsewhere in Florida; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Jackson was a member of the Atlantic Beach Police Department S WAT team where
he organized and participated in numerous high risk drug operations resulting in arrests of suspects and seizures of
illegal drugs; and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Jackson was recognized repeatedly by the Atlantic Beach Police Department for his
outstanding work, including recognition as the Officer of the Yeaz sponsored by the American Society for Industrial
Security.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF ATLANTIC BEACH,
FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Commission and Citizens of Atlantic Beach extend their most heartfelt appreciation to
Detective Robert E. Jackson for his many years of outstanding service in protecting our Community.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized on behalf of the City to give to Detective Robert E. Jackson the
Badge and Pistol he carried as a Detective, as is the Law Enforcement Tradition for outstanding service.
