AGENDA ITEM: Ditch Spraying and Maintenance

BACKGROUND: The City's current contract is with Vortex Biological Services, Inc.
for ditch spraying and maintenance, which expires on Apri130,
2001. We have contacted Mr. John Pastore, Owner/Operator of
Vortex Biological Services, Inc., and he has agreed to extend the
contract for another year at the current prices. The City has the
option of extending the current contract for two (2) one (1) year
periods and this proposed extension will be the second.
RECOMMENDATION: Extend the contract for one year at the current annual bid price of
$48,147.00. The new contract would expire on April 30, 2002.
ATTACHMENTS: Letter signed by John Pastore, Owner/Operator of Vortex
Biological Services, Inc. agreeing to the extension.:
BUDGET: Budget $49,500.00 in account 470-0000-538-34.00

As you are awaze, the contract with the City of Atlantic Beach for ditch spraying expires on
Apri130, 2001. We would like to extend the contract for another yeaz at the current prices, if this
is acceptable to your company. If acceptable, please sign below and return to me before March
26, 2001, so I can prepare a staffreport for the City Commission to accept the extension.
We look forwazd to recommending that we continue our contract with your company.
