BACKGROUND: On September 11, 2000, the City Commission awarded the annual contract for repairs
to electrical motors, pumps, valves and mechanical components of the water and sewer facilities to Atlas
Electric Motors. Afrer we were informed in Febmary 2001 that Atlas Electric Motors would be going out
of business, we cancelled their contract, and again advertised for bidders.
Bid specifications were sent to fourteen bidders, and two bidders attended the mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting
on March 7, 2001. Only one Md was received on March 21, 2001, from Industrial Equipment Services.
The bid awazd recommendation is based on the sum of all 8 hour totals using the rates submitted in the bid.

The 8-hour amount submitted by the sole bidder is approximately 0.6% lower than that of the previous low
bidder, Atlas Electric Motors. Referenoes on the fum were excellent.
BUDGET: Funds for electrical motor and pump repairs are budgeted in the Atlantic Beach and
Buccaneer Water and Sewer fiords, account nos. 400-4001053503400, 400-4301-535-3400,
410-4101-535-3400, and 410-4401-535-3400 in the amount of approximately $95,000 for
use as needed.
RECOMMENDATION: Awazd annual contract for Electrical Motor and Pump Repairs to Industrial
Equipment Services at the rates submitted in Bid No. 0001-10.
