AGENDA ITEM: Cleaning and Televising Sewer Lines -Annual Contract
Bid Nos. 0001- 13 and 0001 - 15

BACKGROUND: The annual contract for Sewer Cleaning and Televising expired in January
2001. Bid specifications for Bid No. 0001-13 were. revised to allow contractors to bid on larger
volumes of work, and were sent to eleven bidders. We also prepared specifications to allow
contractors to bid on smaller sections of sewer lines, along with emergency sewer jetting and
pumping, for Bid No. 0001-15. Three bids were received for televising longer sewer lines, and
two bids were received for televising shorter sewer lines by the due date of Mazch 28, 2001.
Metro-Rooter submitted the same price for both bids. All vendors submitted the required
documents.

The low bidder was Metro-Rooter, at a cost of $1.25 per linear foot for sewer cleaning and
televising. We have worked with this firm numerous times in the past and have been pleased with
their performance. References on the fine were excellent.
Bid No. 0001-15 also requested bids for emergency sewer pumping and jetting. Two vendors
submitted bids for these items. Because the bids received for these two items were not lower than
what we typically pay for the services without bidding, it is recommended that the Commission
reject all bids for emergency jet cleaning and pumping.
BUDGET: Funds for sewer cleaning and televising are budgeted in the Atlantic Beach and
Buccaneer Sewer funds, account nos. 410-4101-535-3400 and 410-4401-535-3400
in the amount of approximately $30,000 for use as needed.
RECOMMENDATION: Award annual contract for Sewer Cleaning and Televising Sewer
Lines to Metro-Rooter at the rates submitted in Bid Nos. 0001-13
and 0001-15. Reject all bids for emergency sewer pumping and
jetting as submitted for Bid No. 0001-15.
