STAFF REPORT
AGENDA TTEM: Request from the Cultural Arts Boazd to place a sculpture in front of the fire
station at the west side of the five-way stop.

BACKGROUND: The Cultural Arts Boazd would like to hold a sculpture competition, which
contest guidelines aze being defined, to locate a sculptwe for the City of Atlantic Beach. The Cultural
Arts Board would tike to place this sculptwe in front of the fue station at the west side of the five-way
stop.
BUDGET: The Cultural Arts Board has approximately $4,800 in their budget allotted for visible art
programs.
RECOMMENDATION: Staffrecommends allowing the Boazd to place the sculpture at this location
with the following terms:
1) That the sculptwe be of a size so as to not obstruct traffic vision or to interfere with the
effective operation of the fire station.
2) That the sculpture be made of a material that would be virtually maintenance-free for ten to
fifteen years.
3) That the sculpture be appropriate to the general public.
4) That the Commission gives final approval of the sculptwe and the exact location.
