The following are responses to questions and requests for additional information that were
made in recent City Commission meetings.
Sell of Alcohol to Minors; On May 29`h the Atlantic Beach Police Department worked with,
other agencies to conduct a sting operation for sale of alcohol to minors. Twelve locations were
checked at the beaches with three of those selling alcohol to underage informants. Ten of the 12
locations were in Atlantic Beach. The Li] Champ at 501 Mayport Road and Pappa's Food Mart
at 469-3 Atlantic Boulevazd sold alcohol to the minor. The other two businesses checked were
in Neptune Beach and one of those sold alcohol to the minor.
Additions to Fall General Election Ballot; A question was asked about the deadline date for
submission of items to the Supervisor of Elections for additions to the Fall election ballot.
September 11~' will be the last possible date for inclusion of items. The Supervisor ofEIections
would need time to print the ballots and make other election arrangements.
Church Road Renaming; After review of the notes from the last Commission meeting, staff
determined that the Commission was not clear on it's intent to proceed with the renaming of
Church Road. If it is the Commission's desire to proceed with the renaming, an ordinance would
have to be prepazed for approval and the City of Jacksonville would have to go through their
renaming process because half of the street is in their jurisdiction. The Commission would also
have to determine what they want the new road to be named.
