The Guest Speaker was Ms. Chris Guajardo of Health Ease of Florida. She spoke about the importance of health care issues for children and the elderly. • Attended a Directors meeting at the Police Athletic League. Discussions were held regarding Donner Park seniors team playing in the league. The 14-17 age group will play in the league. • Attended B.E.A.M. meeting regarding scheduling hours that the Dental Van will attend Donner Park. Donner Park cheerleaders made 12 Mother's Day Baskets for sick and shut in Senior Citizens. • Attended and performed in the Beaches Queen Mary Chapter #210 Talent Show. • Donner Park is making preparations for this year's Summer Camp. This year's camp wilt begin on June 11-August 3 from 10:OOAM-4:30 PM. The weektly activities calendar will be as follows: Week I-June 11-15- "Getting to Know You Week" Most of the activities will focus on learning about who their cohorts are. A game called "Family Tree" will be played and a trip to the Florida Theater to see the play "Footprints on the Moon" will take place this week. Week II-June 18-22- "State Capital Week" We will focus on reading maps, finding state capitals and map making. Prizes will be given on Friday to the Campers who can memorize the most states and capitals. Afield trip to Hannah Park will take place during this week. Week III- June 25-29- "Sports Week" Each day the campers will focus on different sports. Team players from Jackson, Fletcher High Schools, FCCJ and the University of North Florida will be invited to come out and speak to the children. Mad Science will perform a science show this week. Week N-July 2-6- "Table Games Week" (out 4`" of July) This week will be a short week for Donner Park. No field trip will be taken. Week V-July 9-20- "Math Mania Week" A Mock Game Show and A Math Quiz will be the highlights of this week. Students will be drilled on various mathematical terminology and tips on making this subject easier. Afield trip to the Children's Museum will be held this week. Week VI-July 16-20- "Water Week" Each day a different group of 10 children will go to Fletcher Pool fOr a free Style and Swim class. We will also hold discussions on water safety and the importance of the buddy system. The children will eat watermelon and draw aquarium art: Afield trip to Hanna Water Park will be held this week. Week VII-July 23-27- "Arts and Craft Show off Week" The children will focus on their arts and crafts designs that were made during camp. Parent visR day will be on Friday of to show parents the artwork.
