AGENDA TTEM: Request from the Cultural Arts Board to apply for a Jacksonville Community
Foundation Grant.

BACKGROUND: The Cultural Arts Board would like to apply for grant monies from the
JacksonvIlle Community Foundation £or the following purpose:
1. Present an orientation and arts advocacy workshop for the community, young people and their
families, led by arts educators.
2. Present aone-week, in-school series of artist-in-residence workshops for grades kindergarten
through 5.
3. Install an exhibit of completed artwork by the participants for the community.
4. Create a community art exchange exhibit with another community providing a similar experience
for thew young people.
5. Provide a field trip to visit "sister" community.
This program would benefit approximately 500 youths at Atlantic Beach Elementary. The Cultural Arts
Boazd will partner with the Atlantic Beach Elementary Advisory Board and Pazent Teacher Association
for supplementary financial and organizational support of the program and to facilitate its
implementation..
BUDGET: The anticipated cost for the program is $15,000 and the grant request would be in the amount
of $10,000-$25,000. The Cultural Arts Boazd has requested $1,500 in the 2001/2002 budget to
supplement any grarrt monies received.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends allowing the Cultural Arts Board to apply for the grant
from the Jacksonville Community Foundation.
