Change Order for Additional Work on Church Road Water & Sewer
Improvements -CDBG, Bid No. 0001-18

The City Commission awazded the contract for the Church Road Water & Sewer Improvements,
funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) monies, to Miranda Contracting on
May 29, 2001. The project is complete as designed, with a total of $10,036.05 remaining in the
contract.
In order to fully utilize the available CDBG funds, Miranda Contracting is willing to extend the
water main by 300 feet and install another fu•e hydrant neaz the comer of Church Road and Cecil
Road at [he contract unit prices, for the total remaining value of the contract. This would allow
the City to provide better fire protection in the azea, and would make water service available for a
few more customers.
Using the unit prices in the contract of $29.50/I,F for the water main, and $1,864 for the fire
hydrant, the total value of the extension would be $10,714. Miranda Contracting will complete
the additional work for the remaining contract amount of S 10,036.05.
BUDGET: A total of $149,000 was budgeted in the CDBG account. The total contract value
for the project is $138,582.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Change Order to add an additiona1300 linear feet of
water main, plus one additional fire hydrant on Church Road, for a total of S 10,036.05.
