AGENDA ITEM: Pubhc Hearing on Local Law Enforcement Grant Application

BACKGROUND:
In July 2001, the Crty Commission approved a grant application under the Local Law
Enforcement Block Chant program for~14,402 m grant money The City also agreed to
match that money with $1,600 of contraband/forfeiture funding, for a total of $16,002
The expressed purpose of this grant application was to enhance the Pohce Records
Management System with additional softwaze Since that rime, the application has been
submitted electronically, and the application has been accepted
One of the requirements of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant program is that we
must have a public heanng on this use of the funding
For this reason, the Pohce Department is requesting that a public hearing be set for
September 24, 2001 at the Crty Commission Meeting, for the purpose of meeting this
requirement This can be done m conJunction with the Pubhc Heating on the Budget
IMPACT ON BUDGET: None
RECOMMENDATIONS: To have a Pubhc Hearmgta seek public input on the use of
$16,002 m Local Law Enforcement Block Grant funding
