A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH ESTABLISHING GUIDELINES
FOR LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES IN CITY PARKS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, there are more than 77,000 Little Free Libraries around the world that promote the love of
reading, while building community, through the "give a book, leave a book" concept; and
WHEREAS, groups and individuals are building and stocking Little Free Libraries in Atlantic Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Atlantic Beach City Commission desires to establish the following regulations for anyone
desiring to install a Little Free Library in city parks:
Little Free Libraries are allowed in the following parks, which are located at or near city offices or
community centers: Donner, Jordan, Russell and Bull not to exceed two (2) per park.
Applicants shall submit a library installation request to the City Manager.
The request shall include:
o A detailed description of the project;
o The exact location in the park proposed for installation (include a map and GPS coordinates);
o A maintenance plan; and
o An implementation timeline; and
The City Manager or his/her designee will notify the applicant of the outcome of the installation request.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and City Commission hereby establish the aforementioned guidelines for Little
Free Libraries in city parks.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, this 28th day
