AGENDA ITEM: Professional Engmeermg Sernces for Upgrade of West End Lift Station

BACKGROUND: One of the high priority recommendations mthe Sewer Master Plan was
the upgrade of the West End Lift Station, located at 2567 West End St This lift station has only
one pump, and will need to be reconfigured for two pumps in order to meet FDEP requirements
Modifications will have to be made to the wetwell, pumping and pipmg configurations, and the
control system will need to be upgraded to meet current City standazds
We requested Wartz and Moye, one ofthe engmeermg firms recently awazded a contmumg
contract, to provide us with a cost proposal for engmeermg of this project. The scope of sernces
mcludes a site survey and mvestigation of the exstmg conditions, design drawings and
specifications, detailed hydraulic calculations, percmttmg, bidding and negotiation sernces, and
final inspection and certification upon completion of construction.
The cost to provide the above sernces, as proposed, is not to exceed $10,000 As such, the City
will only be billed for actual hours and expenses up to that amount Th>s fee represents
approxunately 10% of the estimated construction cost, which would be on the low to average
range for a small project of this nature
BUDGET: A total of $20,000 was budgeted for engineering for projects recommended m the
Sewer Master Plan m the Buccaneer Sewer Utility Fund, account number 410-4401-535-6300
RECOMMENDATION: Authonze Waitz &Moye to perform the engmeering services for the
Upgrade of West End Lift Station m the amount of $10,000
