Dear Mayor and Commissioners:
Enclosed is a packet of information that details a unique program that we; along with a group of
professional dance instructors and educators, hope to bring to the young women of Atlantic Beach
in Summer 2002.
We have requested to be placed on the agenda for the October 22, 2001 commissioners' meeting to
discuss the program and funding for it by the City.
While conveyance of the information likely came to you through other channels, we note that this
summer program was formally endorsed by both the Cultural Arts and Parks & Recreation Boards
of Atlantic Beach. Several Parks & Rec Board. members specifically .favored it because it is targeted
to teens and young adults who are somewhat under served by City programs.
As the enclosed materials detail, we are seeking $3,000.00 in funding. We expect that $400 to
$500 will be used for art supplies, snacks, "advertising" and promotion and other expenses, and
that the balance will be paid as professional fees to us and Rosemary Fletcher. Relevant to this fee
structure, we iuform you that our university/college seminar and workshop program fees are
$1,500 and $1,800 respectively -- for one-hour and two-and-one-half hour programs.
