CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. The minutes of the July 10, 2019 regular Environmental Stewardship Committee meeting were not approved due to the lack of a quorum. 3. COURTESY OF THE FLOOR (5 MINS.) There were no speakers present for courtesy of the floor. 4. REPORTS A. LEED for Cities Subcommittee Report. S. Boren said the City of Atlantic Beach had achieved silver certification, with 58 out of 100 possible points. She said gold status is feasible and could be put in the 2019-2020 workplan. The Committee discussed the plan to announce the certification, including partnering with various community events, including Commission meetings, the Jacksonville Environmental Board meeting, or a Beaches Watch event. S. Corbin said the science behind sea level rise and the reason behind pursuing the LEED for Cities certification has not been discussed in a public setting at the City. S. Boren said that the U.S.G.B.C. does not issue plaques, but issues certificates for recognition. S. Corbin asked if there were stickers available to post in City Hall, and S. Boren said she would ask and follow up. S. Corbin said he would follow up with Beaches Watch to confirm the presentation could be held at their next meeting, and S. Boren and L. Chipperfield would work on a press release. Environmental Stewardship Committee August 14, 2019 Page 1 of 2 B. LEED for Cities City Commission Resolution 19-43. L. Chipperfield asked if the LEED for Cities certificate could be presented to the City Commission, and S. Boren said she would like to ensure Commissioner Kelly and Mayor Glasser were available for the presentation. C. LEED for Cities Roadmap discussion. S. Corbin said the most logical place to start with the roadmap is the outreach and educational component. S. Boren discussed the City's score compared to other cities, and the City's score in the different categories. She discussed the next steps for the Committee, including making policy recommendations to the Commission, and if approved, City staff would help write the policies. S. Boren said she would like to send out a survey to the Committee members to identify priorities for the road map and discuss them in September. S. Corbin asked the Committee while they are looking at the road map and next steps to determine what channel the changes will have to go through and how staff can handle the recommendations. S. Boren presented strategies for the road map categories to the Committee. The Committee discussed next steps and how the Outreach Committee could also publicize the priorities. The Committee also discussed the importance of the LEED for Cities strategies, and also the difficulties in educating the public about the program and its goals. D. Outreach Subcommittee Report. There was no Outreach Subcommittee Report discussed at the meeting. 5. OLD BUSINESS There was no old business discussed at the meeting. 6. NEW BUSINESS There was no new business discussed at the meeting. 7. ADJOURNMENT There being no further discussion, S.
