Exh 8DAGENDA ITEI.1 #8D DECEMBER 10, 2001 City of Atlantic Beach City Commission Meeting Staff Report Agenda Item: Lifeguard Truck Upgrades Date: November 21, 2001 Submitted by: David E. Thompson, Chief of Police/DPS Background: During the budgeting process, the purchase of a truck was included in the 2001-02 budget for the lifeguards. The base price for a small pickup truck was $15,500, and this was theme amount included in the budget. It was anticipated that there would be upgrades and features that would be added when the truck was received. When reviewing the specifications and options available under existing contracts, it became apparent that somc upgrades should be made on the basc truck while ordering it from the manufacturer. The combined efforts of lifeguards and mechanics, with Police review, resulted in the following recommendations for the lifeguard truck: Base Price 16529 5 Spd Manual Trans -731 4.6 V-8 1340 12 volt power supply 65 Heavy duty towing 490 Sliding rear window 125 8' Bed 300 Tow Noak 40 Spray on Bed liner 469 Headlight flashers 97 Total 18724 Budgeted 15500 Difference 53224 1/2 ton pick up 4X4 Ford The increase in the budget of $3,224 will be reimbursed this year by the City of Jacksonville as a capital expense under the Interlocal Agreement. Budget: With City Commission approval, the lifeguard capital budget will be increased by $3,224 for 2001-02. This budget adjustment will be made during the mid-year budget adjustments. The funding source will be the capital improvements funding from the City of Jacksonville under the Interlocal Agreement.
