Dutton Island Should be named after Wally Dutton.
Mr. Dutton was an Imagineer with great insight and
foresight. An unusual alternate thinker. _
He previously owned the property that the Koger
Center is on at Beach Blvd.
Mr. Dutton was one of the key people along with the
Davis Family that brought the Mayo Clinic to Jax.
Walter is one of the key people that kept BMW and
Volkswagon in business after World War Two.
He headed the commission to dismantle Germanys
War machine and was a critical player in the
decisions as to what industries would stay and what
would be dismantled. BMW and VW can thank
Walter for their existance. .
I used to thoroughly enjoy stopping by the office on
Phillips Hyw. North of Baymeadows Rd. where the 2
aircraft drop tanks are still located, and listen to the
tales Mr. Dutton would love to tell.
This man touched many citizens in this community
and they do not even know it. _
LE s EP DUTTON ISLAND.
