BACKGROUND: During the annual inspection of the hydropneumatic tank at Water Plant #4,
severe pitting was found on the interior upper portions, and the inspector recommended
replacing the tank as soon as possible.
Bid packages were sent to nine firms. Bids were received from four bidders on Apri14, 2000.
All bidders submitted the required documentation, including a 5% bid bond The low bidder for
the project was Crruhn May, Inc., with a fatal bid of $37,858.70.
BUDGET: Funds were budgeted for this project under the Buccaneer Water Capital
Improvement Account No. 400-4301-533-6300 in the amount of $25,000. Because we were able
to purchase other items in this account well under budget, there are sufficient funds available for
replacement of the hydropneumatic tank.
RECOIVIlVIENDATION: Approve the low bid of GTUhn May, Inc., for Replacement of
Hydropneumatic Tank at Water Plant No. 4, Bid No. 9900-8, in the amount of $37,858.70,
authorize the City Clerk to send notification of award to the low bidder, and authorize the City
Manager to sign the construction contract.
