Dear Todd,
During inspection of the above referenced structure, the City of Atlantic Beach decided to modify the Alteration level from
Level 2 to Level 3. As a result, the City has requested a specification or fastening the existing 2x8 cap plate to the existing
CMU bond beam.To do this,we will fasten rafters directly to the CMU at 4'-0"centers,which will mimic adding anchor bolts to
the 2x8 plate.
Currently, all of the rafters are fastened to the 2x8 plate with a Simpson H3 clip.To fasten the 2x8 to the CMU, fasten the roof
rafters to the face of the CMU with Simpson HTSM16 at 48"centers. Use 10d nails into rafters and'/."x1-3/4"titen screws into
the CMU.
Additionally, the outlookers over the rear wall were installed flatwise. This is acceptable. The last rafter must be notched to
carry the flat outlooker,which is fastened at the notch and at the interior end with(3) 10d toe-nails.

Dear Todd,
For the above referenced structure, the following modifications are acceptable:
1. The rear wall of the structure is a gable end configuration. It is acceptable to hold this wall down with SDWC screws
in lieu of the prescribed threaded rods. Specifically, the bottom plate should be anchored to the foundation with 1/2"x8"
anchor bolts at ends, splices and 48" centers. Typical wall studs are fastened to the bottom plate with SDWC15450
screws at 32" centers. The same studs are fastened to the top plate with SDWC15600 screws. All header king and
jack studs are fastened at top and bottom with SDWC15450 (bottom plate) and SDWC15600 (top plate) screws.
Headers are fastened to the top plate with SDWC15600 screws at 24" centers.
2. In the rear roof framing,where collar ties are installed per the plan, no specific ridge beam support is required.
