A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO THE 2018-2019 JUSTICE
ASSISTANCE GRANT DIRECT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Justice Assistance Grant Direct (JAGD) have been established by the Federal
Government and are administered by the State of Florida, The Florida Department of Law
Enforcement (FDLE), Office of Criminal Justice Grants; and
WHEREAS, the Atlantic Beach Police Department is eligible to receive funds from the
JAGD grant; and
WHEREAS, the Atlantic Beach Police Department is requesting authorization to apply
for one grant project using JAGD funds. This project will use $3,171 of said JAGD funds to
purchase equipment for the traffic enforcement motorcycle officer; and
WHEREAS, the submission of a JAGD application requires CEO and CLO certification
and the application and management of the grant process must be completed by a city department
and miscellaneous grant amendments must be authorized by a city official;
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes; the Mayor to apply for and execute
the 2018-2019 JAGD contract agreement with the State of Florida and for the Chief Legal Officer
for the city to execute any necessary certifications required during the grant cycle and for staff of
the Atlantic Beach Police Department to apply for and manage the grant process and City manager
to have authority to approve the purchase of product or services identified in the grant contracts.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
