Exh 2A^,~ ,~, b. , ~ 2A June 12, 2000 ~"a June 7, 2004 MEMORANDUM TO: The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission FROM: Jim SUBJECT: Follow-up items "Log Cabin" on Seminole Road: at the City Commission Meeting, Commissioners were invited to tour a "log cabin"on Seminole Road for possible donation to the City for relocation and preservation. First, this is not a "log cabin". The wood used for the construction of this structure was pre cut at a lumber mill at an off site location and `~-~` 'brought to Atlantic Beach for assembly on Seminole Road. To make the outside walls appear more natural, pre cut facings with a rounded shape were nailed on to .the wooden walls. Additionally, the original structure has been cut up and modified in several places to accommodate numerous remodelings that this building underwent through the years. Next, staff cannot recommend a good use for this structure if it were to be disassembled and relocated elsewhere. It is far to small to provide a living structure and staff has a concern over possible vandalism if it were to be located in a City Park. It is my recommendation that the City pass on the offer for donation of this building. - Grant for Core CitX,Sewer Rehab; We have recently learned that the $350,000 grant that was announced in a recent City Commission Meeting made it through the final- approval process by the Governor and is included in the final State Budget for next year. Senior Homestead Exemption Effect on Tax Digest; The City has received the final tax digest from the Duval County Property Appraiser. The final digest with the Senior Homestead Exemption equals $ 672,502,560. The Senior Homestead Exemption reduced the tax digest by $2,316.061. The amount of tax dollars lost to the City of Atlantic Beach equals $7,246/year. .~ _. 2A June 12, 2000 -STORAGE OF BOATS AND TRAILERS ON 17~`H STREET: A preliminary review of the City's zoning provisions indicates that the boats and vehicles stored on the lot on 17~' Street are not in violation. They are behind the setback line and do not violate other provisions. The City Attorney has been asked for an opinion on this issue.
