DISASTER PREPAREDNESS PROCLAMATION

BAN ON USE OR DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS, FLARES, EXPLOSIVES,
SPARIQ.ERS OR OUTDOOR BURNING DEVICES
WHEREAS, Atlantic Beach is threatened by wildfires because of drought, wind conditions and water
shortages; and
WHEREAS, the above-stated conditions have caused. disaster and emergency conditions which
endanger the safety, health aid welfare of our citizens aad visitors; and
WHEREAS, the threat of fire aad alt attendant disaster emergency conditions to the City of Atlantic
Beach is imminent; and
WHEREAS, measures are required to protect Atlantic Beach's citizens and visitors, and to otherwise
protect their health, safety sod welfare;
BY TKE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THAT:
1. Declaration of Disaster Emergency: A disaster emergency for Atlantic Beach exists because
the occurrence or threat of such disaster emergency in the form of wildfires because of
drought, wind conditions aad water shortage is imminent. Ali such conditions endanger the
safety, health and welfare of the City of A#lantic Beach, its. residents and visitors.
2. Term of the State ofDisasterEmergency: Astate ofdisasteremergency, as proclaimed herein,
shall last until such time as the threat af, or danger from, the disaster emergency has been
dealt with to the extent that the disaster emergency conditions no longer exist. At the time it
is found that the disaster emergency no longer exists, this Proclamation shad be terminated
by a subsequent Proclamation, provided, however, that this Proclamation shall not continue
for longer than thirty {30) days from the date hereof, unless renewed by subsequent
proclamation.
3. Fireworks, flares, Ezplosives, Sparkles or Outdoor Burning Banned: I hereby proclaim that,
for the next thirty (30) days the sale, use or discharge of fireworks, flares, sparklers or any
outdoor burning devices (ezcluding attended and maaitored barbecue%ooking equipment)
shall 6e prohibited. The only ezception to this ban shall be those persons who have obtained
special permits from the City of Atlantic Beach.
