AGENDA ITEM:. Approve conceptual plan for the construction of a community
center at Jordan Park

BACKGROUND: At the April 24, 2000 City Commission Meeting, the Commission
endorsed the concept of constructing a community center in Jordan
Park. Beaches Habitat would design and construct the facility and
the City would purchase all material.
Attached is the conceptual plan, which has been agreed upon by
Beaches Habitat and Donner Community Development
Cooperation. The recreation area is 750 square feet and the total
square footage is roughly 2800 square feet. In comparison to
Donner Park, Donner Park Community Center recreation area is
1140 and the total square footage is roughly 2100. Beaches
Habitat has indicated the material cost to construct such a facility is
$45,000.
BUDGET: None. Funds will need to be budgeted for materials ($45,000).
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the conceptual plan for the construction of the Jordan
Park Community Center. Waive the purchasing requirements and
authorize Staff to coordinate with Beaches Habitat for the design
and construction of the Center. The City will purchase all material
not to exceed $45,000.
