AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH,
FLORIDA, VACATING AND ABANDONING PLATTED
EASEMENTS ON LOTS. 8 AND 9, BLOCK 1, OCEAN
GROVE, UNIT NO.1, AS RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK 15,
PAGE 82 OF THE CURRENT PUBLIC RECORDS OF
DUVAL COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
Mayor Pro Tem Beaver presented Ordinance No. 95-00-75 in full, in
writing, and read the ordinance by title only.
Community Development Director George Worley explained the
subdivision was adopted by the City of Jacksonville several of years ago.
At that time the developer platted a number of utility easements. Utilities
were never installed in those easements and the .area was .subsequently
annexed into Atlantic Beach. Utility lines have now been located in the
street right-of--way and the easements which run through these lots and
sometimes underneath structures, are no longer needed by the City.
However, the title to the property is clouded because of these easements
and the property owner has requested that the City abandon the easements
so he can sell the property.
