The following are responses to questions and requests for additional information that were made
in recent City Commission meetings.
Taz Rates in Duval Countv; A question was raised at the .last commission meeting about how
the Atlantic Beach's tax rate compares with those of the other cities in Duval county. Atlantic
Beach has the third lowest in Duval county with Baldwin being the lowest and Neptune Beach
being second lowest. For further information see the attached page 17 from Atlantic Beach's
FY99-00 budget showing a comparison of tax rates. The proposed rollback by Mayor Delaney of
the Jacksonville rate should lower the taxes for all county residents including those in Atlantic
Beach.
Beach Renourishment; The commission asked for periodic reports on the upcoming beach
renourishment program. Walter Hogrefe, City of Jacksonville contract administrator for beach
renourishment, advised that the agreement for the upcoming renourishment project is pending
Jacksonville City Counsel approval. They proposed to start in the fall using channel deepening
and the sand would be pumped #o our beach and not trucked in. During the last renourishment
project in Jacksonville Beach, sand was trucked in from a disposal site on Buck Island.
Stop Sign Visibility; East Coast at Sizth Street; The tree obstructing the stop sign on East
Coast in the vicinity of sixth street has been trimmed.
Hvdrant markers on Seminole Road; The reflectors were replaced on Seminole Road on July
