MEMORANDUM

and Members of the C'ty Commission

SUBJECT: Follow-up items
The following are responses to questions and requests for additional information that were made
in recent City Commission meetings.
Mayport Road Pond; It was previously reported that the JTA was considering construction of a
pond on the east side of Mayport Road just to the south of the new Best Western Hotel site. The
City staff had recommended several alternate locations for the pond which would not front
directly on Mayport Road. The JTA has decided that the alternate locations are not feasible
because of engineering concerns and that they are preceding again with the acquisition of the
original site. They have indicated a willingness to consider any input that the City may have
concerning landscaping or other items, but indicated that there would be very little remaining
property after the pond is constructed. Staff in turn has contacted the developer of the new hotel
to advise him of the City's concern over the looks of the proposed pond and the developer
indicated a similar interest in reviewing the plans as soon as available.
