Having reviewed the Florida League of Cities Cooperative Salary Survey of
February 2000, comparing population and salary ranges, including additional
information required from other cities in Florida, and taking into effect that
the basic salaries of the City of Atlantic Beach Mayor-Commissioner and
Commissioners was last increased on November 14, 1984, by Ordinance No.
5-83-9, a period of seventeen years, it is my recommendation that the Mayor-
Commissioner's basic salary be raised to $12,000 per year and that the
Commissioners' salaries be raised to $9,000 per year.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, ARTICLE II, CITY
-- - - COMMISSION,. SEC. 2-20, SALARY OF MEMBERS, AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Florida League of Cities provides comparisons of the salaries of elected
officials throughout the State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Cooperative Salary Survey of February 2000, which is based on population and
other information, indicates that the. salaries paid to Atlantic Beach City Commissioners is lower than
salaries paid to elected officials in other Florida cities with similar demographics; and
WHEREAS, the salary of Atlantic Beach elected offciaLs was last increased in 1983.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COMMISSION ON BEHALF OF
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 2-20 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 2-20. Salary of members.
(a) The annual salary of the mayor-commissioner shall be five-twelve thousand dollars
($f@90-$I2.000). The annual salary of the commissioners shall be ttvo-nine thousand
five-htmdred-dollars (~68-$9 040 .
(b) The salary of the mayor commissioner and commissioners shall be made in twelve (12)
equal monthly payments.
~ Effective August 1 each wear the basic salary of the mayor-commissioner and city
commissioners shall be reviewed and increased if appropriate with the actions over the
precedingvear's economy.
This review and increase in basic salary does not negate an annual cost of livin Lincrease
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its final passage and adoption.
