AGENDA ITEM: Orthophosphate Annual Contract

BACKGROUND:
On 9/23/98, bids were opened for the City contract for Orthophosphate for the Buccaneer
Water Division. There were two bidders that successfully met all bid requirements. The City
Commission awarded the contract to the {ow bidder, Calciquest, Inc. (Calciquest).
Calciquest has been providing the City with Orthophosphate since 1997. Orthophosphate is a
chemical used for corrosion control at the at the Buccaneer Water Treatment Plants.
As per Bid No. 9798-39, "The City reserves the right to renew the contract for two additional
one-year periods pending a mutual agreement between the City and the vendor, and a review
of the contract performance by vendor for the previous year." Staff has been pleased with the
performance of this contractor, and the contractor has agreed to extend the contractor for one
year at the current rates.
BUDGET: Budgeted under account 400-4301-533-5200 with estimated annual
cost of approximately $8,000.00
RECOMMENDATION: Extend the Orthophosphate contract to Calciquest for a second,
additional year. Contract wiN expire 9/30/2001.

City of Atlantic Beach for Orthophosphate for the Buccaneer Water System for one
additional year in accordance with your proposal submitted on S®ptember 23, 1998,
under Bid No. 9798-39.
Please sign below and return this original setter to Indicate your agreement to extend
the contract. The contract would then officially expire on September 30, 20Q1.
